Welcome to the
New Jersey All-State Orchestra 1960s web site. Here we celebrate
the wonderful experiences we had while being part of an outstanding
group. We all owe special thanks to the conductors and teachers who
generously gave of their time and their passion. This site is dedicated
to the memory of what they gave and to the hope that everyone can find
ways to give so freely to succeeding generations. The biographies of our mentors are open to the public. The member pages of the site are
for alumni musicians and teachers and require a password. If you are either of these, you may email Bill Schneiderman for one. Members: We have changed our web server, and with it, our password system in September 2003. The old passwords no longer work. Email Bill Schneiderman for a new one.
Have you ever wondered
what became of some of your colleagues from those years? Wonder no
more! You will enjoy the biographies and pictures of those musicians
and conductors for whom we have information. You can also view the
concert programs, with complete listings of the musicians and works
performed.
The All-State Orchestra
experience would not have been complete without the friends we made
and the growing up we did. The photo album is partly devoted to remembering
that part of the experience. With many of us having been parents, how
interesting it is to look back on ourselves as the teenagers we were!
This site is a
labor-of-love produced by Bill Schneiderman and Kate Santoro (you knew
her as Kathy Biringer). We have thoroughly enjoyed reacquainting with
you, our former colleagues. We would like the site to grow and become
more interesting. Help us do it! Do you know how to reach people we
haven’t found yet? Or can you recognize any of the photos that don’t
yet have a name? Do you have photos you would like to contribute –
yourself and/or other alumni back then or recently? Search those attic
and basement boxes you haven’t looked through for years. Then get in
touch with Bill through email. We happily acknowledge the
help and photographs already provided by Sandra Dackow, Paul Matlin, Ken Langley,
Hilarie Ring Lawlor, Joan Torrieri Cook, Stuart Marrs, John Oldham, Marilyn Mills, Ralph Ciarlo, Jacqueline Goudey-Megquier, Andy Woodruff, Barbara Kautzman and Kathy Zufall-Larson.
A
note from Bill - Several years ago, I contacted a few all-state orchestra
colleagues out of curiosity. Continuing to locate
people, I have reveled in speaking and corresponding with many
of you. We have such a talented and interesting group! Somewhere along
the way, I decided to “publish” my discoveries of who you have become,
on the internet, for us to share. I hope that the memories this stirs
in you are as positive as they are for me. I hope that you are filled
with wonder and admiration (as I am) at how your colleagues have made
their lives. And I hope that this web site will help those of you who
wish, to stay in touch with one another.
